The studio art department at Kenyon College invites applications for a part-time,
(18 hr/wk) Artist/ Manager of Technology beginning August 1, 2008 and continuing through mid May 2009. Hours are flexible but will include some day and evening hours.
As a visiting artist to the college, the successful candidate will give occasional presentations on their work and technology, as well as interact with students individually. As a manager of technology, s/he will maintain the digital studio, equipment and software, train student workers, assist faculty and students with the technical demands of their work. S/he will also research and advise on future purchases, perform installations and ensure the optional functionality of the equipment and manage facilities-related resources.
Minimal Qualifications: a Bachelor of Arts degree from an accredited four-year college, (M.F.A. preferred) a professional exhibition record, minimum of 2 years of experience in using and troubleshooting Macintosh-based hardware and software for still and moving imaging, including Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, Dreamweaver, Flash. (Other software such as Isadora is a plus.) Kenyon's digital studio has twenty G5's in the main lab, plus scanning, advanced, animation and printing stations (Epson 7600 printer, plus others). The successful candidate must demonstrate problem-solving, organizational, interpersonal and presentation skills.
