Project Scope: Request is being made by retired Seabees. To have a sculpture built of a bee, proportioned to a 6’X12’ trailer and hauled around in parades to advocate for the Navy Seabees Community. To inform the general public of our existence and what we do a Seabees. The bee it self must be durable to be used more than once and last a while or be maintained. It must also be light in weight, and can be carried by 2-3 people from storage and mounted on the trailer, using a 4X4 post and mounting brackets with quick disconnects. We are looking to keep cost low because, no one has forward any funds. My crew and I are looking to assist on the cost. It has been suggested by our command to use a 50 gallon drum made of plastic and PVC pipes for arms. We thought that would not do the Seabees justice and have requested assistance from OSU Arts Department. We are open and looking forward to suggestions from OSU Arts Department and there teams as to what type of materials would be best to use to accomplish this task. We have thought about using light weight sheet metal 26-28 gauge using 2 qty. 4’X10’sheets to complete the task. We are looking to pay for the cost of materials used by OSU if they supply the martial’s via there recommendations, or provide materials cost and we can pick that up and drop it off. We can supply the paint and primer to color the Bee. Below are a few pictures of what we are looking for, The retired bees would like this in a float format on a 4X4 post mount at the bottom of the bee, You will see the first row second picture, and fourth. Second row, first picture provides a good look at what some Seabee Bases have done. The rest are side shots of the bee and color presentation. I have placed two URL links in there to look at more if need be. Please feel free to contact me at any time if you have more questions.

Seabees: NMCBs are more commonly known as "SEABEES", and are the premier engineering components for the United States military today. Even though Seabees are low in numbers, they are highly requested to perform work around the world. Seabees deploy to provide: base construction and upgrades, war damage repairs, humanitarian aid and disaster recovery assistance.

MCB 26 is one of 12 Reserve Battalions in the First Naval Construction Division (1NCD), reporting to the Commander of the SEVENTH Naval Construction Regiment (7NCR). 26 is committed to having a Battalion trained and ready for deployment to support the United States armed forces.

Seabees along with building and pouring concrete, repair and pave roads, drill water wells, string electrical lines and build bridges. They can also defend the area they are working in if it is away from their base camp and convoy their equipment and supplies to the job site in hostile areas. NMCB 26 prepares its members for mobilization readiness with annual two week Active Training (AT) in both tactical and technical skills.

Seabees are the most willing group to help others and the very best of them are in NMCB 26.
